Derek Bullock
Drums, spark plug, the last word
Derek Bullock was born and raised in upstate New York. He started drumming at the age of 13 and by the age of 15 was performing live. He spent the majority of his time in the hardcore/metal underground scene, recording and performing with some of the biggest names in the game, playing shows and touring New York, New England and the East Coast.
He moved to North Carolina in 2008, Met Eric and Audrey shortly after that, and has been the drummer for OverReaction Jackson ever since.
- First album: KoRn, Follow the Leader
- First band: Fosset
- Other bands … Indirect Threat, Murder the Witness, Kung Fu Jesus
Audrey Muck
Bass, vocals, flute, Recording Engineer, computer tech, website and graphics
Audrey Muck sings, plays bass and sometimes flute in OverReaction Jackson.
She started playing bass with the all-female group, She Says, in Columbia, SC in the ‘90’s. They released a full-length CD “All the Best Intentions” and toured around the Southeast. At the same time she was playing flute and singing in various bands with Eric.
She fell in love with the flute at age 5, and when her dad gave her a copy of Jethro Tull’s “Aqualung” in her teens, it literally changed her life! One of her favorite flute shows was the Jethro Tull tribute with Winston-Salem’s Vagabond Saints Society; she says, “I waited my whole life for that gig!”
- First album: Cat Stevens, Tea for the Tillerman. I asked the hippie at the barn in New Hampshire to play it so many times he got sick of it and gave it to me.
- First band: The Blarney Pilgrims in Athens, OH. We played Celtic folk music, we were paid with pitchers of Guinness Stout.
Guitars, Vocals, Recording Engineer/Producer, knobs and weirdness!
Eric Muck was born in Pittsburgh on the day John Glenn went into orbit, thus failing to get above the fold on the front page of the Post Gazette. After he was born other things happened.
Eric has been playing since he was a kid, taking up guitar after loving the Beatles then discovering Alice Cooper and Deep Purple. “I listened to the Beatles till it was in my DNA. I embraced 70s hard rock because it was visceral and fast.”
Plays guitar, sings and writes songs about restaurants and chefs and waiters and freaking customers and sometimes other things. These songs tend to be loud. “I started playing in ninth grade in a school with a strong musical community. Local bands cross pollinated and wrote and jammed regularly, setting the course for the rest my life.”
Tends to overreact.
- First album: Paul McCartney, Ram. “I’ve got a weird idea, I’ll go buy an album”.
- First band: Seastone. “It was Spider, Maggot and me. I should have had a cool nickname, like Fly…or Meat”
